Sometimes, we failed to connect Kindle Fire to Internet. The reason may like below:

First, are you connecting to your own network? Some public networks require you to open a web browser and enter a user name and password before you actually connect. Many private networks need a password entered etc. You may simply not have permission to connect! Wi-Fi isn't FREE unless at a public hot spot, just picking one is illegal.

Then, if it connects to network but doesn't have internet connectivity it still could be an issue with the router, though if a public Wi-Fi making sure browser allows you to accept terms and agreements first is a big one.

Third, you can try to update Kindle Fire. Connect Kindle Fire to a computer and do the update, then put it on the root of the Fire's storage and reboot the Fire.
